Apparently, Rothwell Land has quite recently put in an application to open a 24-hour HGV stop and parking site in the Kettering area, Northamptonshire. In addition to that, Kettering Council has received a planning application for the secure HGV park facility, which would make routing much easier for contracted UK HGV drivers.

This brand new Kettering-located 24-hour HGV park site would include a diesel filling station, as well as a service building on land – reportedly off the Orton Road, Rothwell. Hence, the application comes after a Faber Maunsell report concluded that three more HGV parking sites (all 24-hour) are needed in the Northamptonshire area.

What is more, the report states that the three additional HGV park sites are mostly needed to combat HGV freight crime in the region, as last year the Northamptonshire Police had recorded a considerable number of HGV-related criminal intents. For that matter, the Northamptonshire Police comments that more HGV park sites are greatly needed.

A spokesperson for the Kettering Council notes: “One HGV park site in the region would help us a lot, and it would help drivers a lot, too – there’s no doubt about that. But it’s also a fact that we’ll need a few more.” Ultimately, feedback from businesses is due by the beginning of May, while a target decision date has been set for 21st July.
