According to The Times newspaper, a £150m project to revamp Bond Street station in London could possibly include a holding area, as well as a turntable for HGV driving. TfL the organisation behind this project says that once contractors are appointed in late 2009, a HGV management plan for construction traffic will be implemented.

What is more, London’s Bond Street station is due to be rebuilt from mid-2010 with an upgraded Tube including a new Crossrail station. A spokesperson for TfL has stated:

“At this stage, Westminster Council has indicated an initial preference for a HGV holding area, plus a HGV turntable – on the station’s worksite, if possible.

“All this would enable the turning of construction traffic in such a busy part as Central London.”

The TfL, alongside several other organisations are still working on the project focusing on the scheme behind this £150m construction plan. The aim is to better the overall conditions of traffic.

All in all, as the project develops, with more crucial changes added to the general construction proposal, the TfL spokesperson states that further details and info about how construction traffic will be managed and conducted are to be agreed between Crossrail, London Underground and Westminster City Council in due course.
