W Trailer launches new concept double-decker
June 28, 2009Keighley, West Yorkshire-based W Trailer has reportedly developed a brand-new design of a double-deck HGV driving trailer, aimed squarely at those working in the pallet sector, which – as reported – boosts health, safety and trailer fill, in conjunction with cutting fuel consumption. This brand-new product is also known as the CurtainClear.
The CurtainClear removes the traditional rear corner-posts on the trailer, moving them inboard by 500mm, which apparently means that access to the back of the trailer is notably improved as the ‘curtains’ are pulled around the rear of the trailer. Hence, this allows up to four extra pallets to be loaded, as back-trailer access is not restricted.
Apparently, CurtainClear was developed in collaboration with West Sussex haulier Bleach of Lavant. Managing Director Mick Bleach has stated that the concept was originally sparked by a visit to W Trailer. Thus, he also adds that he has been considering possible solutions to all the safety problems regarding curtains and hubs.
Bleach says:
“We were to talking to Graeme [Wilson] about the safety problems in respect of curtains restricting access to the hub. I suggested putting them around the back of a trailer and Graeme agreed it might very possibly turn out to be a great idea, the utmost solution. Therefore, I ordered one on the assumption that we could do it.”
