Leggett’s Transport enters administration
July 10, 2009Apparently, HGV driving and distribution firm Leggett’s Transport, which runs 65 HGVs, is still continuing to trade – after entering administration just recently. Greg Palfrey and Steve Adshead from Smith & Williamson were appointed Leggett’s Joint Administrators, so believing that Leggett’s trading operations “must go on as usual.”
In a statement, Palfrey explains:
“It is important to stress that Leggett’s are carrying on trading, while we negotiate a sale with a potential purchaser. I believe that Leggett’s business – altogether including all trading operations – is a top priority at present, so we can’t afford endangering any aspect of the firm’s business and trading activities.”
In addition to that, Palfrey also adds that the most important thing is to keep the company, which has a rich background of history regarding its place in Britain’s road transport industry. He says: “Our prime consideration is to keep the company, which dates back to 1918, on the road with a new owner. That is our top priority right now.”
According to several reports on the firm’s transportation stats and staff management, Leggett’s has 70 employees. Apart from that, the company is also involved in General and Container Haulage, as well as Container Storage and Total HGV driving Fleet Management. “We want what’s best for Leggett’s, and that’s what we’ll ensure,” concludes Palfrey.
