HGV driving is one such career that provides many advantages including a good salary and work flexibility. With many people wishing to add an HGV licence to their CV, you can expect to learn many things from HGV training. The availability of HGV training centres has increased in the past few years.

Before you enrol yourself for the HGV training course, you need to have a short-term HGV licence along with a legal medical certificate. In order to acquire a provisional HGV licence, you need to pass the theory test that is particularly designed for HGV driving. This test includes hazard awareness questions that are specific to this profession. A few training centres provide a guide to pass the theory test which includes the financing programs and practical training sessions.

For drivers that hold an HGV licence and have not driven for sometime, refresher training courses are also available. The first day of training comprises of a classroom based introduction to the HGV driving. On the second day, you will get behind the wheels along with the instructor. Here you will need to rehearse some driving skills in the training centre before going out on public roads.

Day three and four usually comprise of developing road driving skills while co-ordinating with your instructor, coupling and uncoupling of trailers, practicing reversing procedures, gear changes, uphill and downhill, controlled stops and standard vehicle checks in case of vehicle break down. The fifth and final day will be examination day. With HGV training, you will be able to learn all the above things and become a confident HGV driver.
