An HGV usually carries heavy and bulky goods from one factory to another or between warehouses. Therefore, it also needs a strong driver who is capable of directing a big, heavy truck like a HGV to avoid any accidents on the road.

Besides being difficult, it is also an expensive affair to get a registered licence to drive an HGV. Basically, HGV can be classified into two categories, N2 licence and N3 licence. In case of N2 licence, drivers are required to get this licence to drive HGV which can hold between 3.5 and 12 tonnes of mass. On the other hand, N3 licence is required for drivers who wish to drive an HGV that can hold a cargo of more than 12 tonnes.

An HGV licence can be attained in two different ways. First, you can either engage somebody to sponsor you, or second, you can pay for your licence on your own. Amongst the two ways, the latter one is a better option in comparison to getting the sponsorship. Paying for the licence yourself allows you to take a few HGV training classes and pass some required tests and get the licence successfully. In this case, you are free to work at a place of your choice and always opt for driving your own HGV.
