The result of a survey this month has brought good news to the road haulage sector of Britain. The news is that it is making its way out of recession. This great news will prove beneficial for the local economy not only within Ipswich but also areas surrounding it. Ipswich will benefit the most as it is the home of Britain’s largest container port called the Felixstowe Port. The news that recession is on its way out, will support the biggest group of business in the road haulage sector.

Commercial Motor magazine conducted a survey of nearly 300 road transport operators out of which 40 operators were from the East of England. This survey was conducted to gain information about the extent of economic recovery that was seen in this sector.

This survey will be conducted every month for the next one year. The need to take up the survey has been supported and encouraged by the Road Haulage Association along with other companies like Michelin. Not only that, but truck manufactures like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, DAF and Renault have also agreed to provide backing to this survey.

The editor of Commercial Motor, Justin Stanton said that everyone knows that the bad days caused due to recession will sooner or later come to an end. He went on to say that it is difficult to say exactly when things will get better.

He continued to say that things have started becoming positive with 28% of fleets recovering from the recession already. It has also been found that almost 23% will see a bright and positive improvement within the next six months while the other 16% will recover after the next twelve months.
