GreenRoad is all set to provide the Ministry of Defence with its in vehicles driving analysis systems for 4,578 MOD vehicles for the upcoming three years. The MOD has been testing the automated driver coaching service, which has already resulted in a 31% reduction in the number of high-risk driving manoeuvres.

The deployment includes approximately 1.9 million miles of driving in a range of vehicles. However, the main aim of the MOD’s testing and study was to collect evidence on the driving behaviour of the navy, air force, army and other MOD drivers. The MOD also aims to assess the risks of individual driver behaviour, make out any difference in risk between military and civilian drivers and finally, understand whether a vehicle service can improve the driver behaviour or not.

The driving behaviour of fleet vehicles along with a cumulative overall mileage of approximately 1.9 million miles was analysed by GreenRoad from March 2008 to January 2009. For capturing the data from an extensive range of both military and civilian drivers, the vehicles in the study incorporated medium and small size cars, mini buses, utility vehicles, Land Rovers and coaches. During this study period, GreenRoad analysed the driver behaviour by base, individual journey, individual vehicle and fleet.
