One of the nation’s leading telematics suppliers, Quartix, has reported that over half of its sales are now down to its pay-as-you-go vehicle tracking system.

A reluctance to enter into longer contracts on the part of fleet managers has led to the increased popularity, according to Quartix. The current financial situation has meant companies are looking for flexibility and they also don’t want to be hemmed into a deal with one particular provider, necessarily.

Speaking on behalf of Quartix, their sales and marketing director, Andy Kirk, said:

“As a financially strong, long-established supplier we are able to provide the very latest telematics features and benefits through the flexibility of Quartix Pay As You Go. This rental model guarantees the right to opt out at any time after the first three months plus the opportunity to add or remove tracking units as and when necessary.”

The company started providing the pay as you go service in April 2009 and now offers the service in conjunction with Google Maps. Other features include real-time information about how the fleet is performing, with icons that change colour according each vehicle’s speed.
