HGV driver training scheme helps Dairy Crest drivers
A government funded scheme in conjunction with the Freight Transport Association (FTA) is to help Dairy Crest drivers secure their futures. Under the National Logistics Apprenticeship Programme, Dairy Crest employees will gain a Certificate of Professional Competence from the FTA’s HGV driver training team.
The FTA National Training Manager, Isobel Harding, said:
“This partnership is a real first for the UK, the innovative framework allowing Dairy Crest to develop its staff through real career progression routing.
“Dairy Crest’s commitment to invest in its people mean that staff of whatever level and age will benefit from meaningful and high-quality training and clear opportunities for career advancement.”
Mansfield-based Vision West Notts college will run the scheme and 37 Dairy Crest staff will start their training later in 2012.
Ms Harding further commented:
“We are delighted to be a partner in this project which we hope will become a blueprint from which others can develop their transport managers of the future.”
